Have you looked at something with intention lately? Have you looked at something or someone and noticed a detail you never have before reminding yourself of that little beauty that usually slips your mind?
Photography can help with this necessary attention that we often forget. The perspective that makes your views unique and important. The things that make you the person you are. Photographing the things you love in a new way, in a new light, can create appreciation that we never knew we needed.
Our lives constantly distract us. We get into routines and forget why we wanted to do what we were doing in the first place. Let us take a few moments to count the colors in our dogs fur, look at the highlight on our coffee cup and find out where they are coming from. Let us lay on grass and look upside-down. What can we see from another perspective and how does it change? What are some elements that can have a new kind of beauty. Photograph it.
Let this bring abstraction. Let go of anything you have been taught about leading lines, rule of thirds, horizontal lines, or the color wheel out of this session. Explore your heart and mind through photography, without constraints, and leave the instilled rules behind. Make your own rules and you will learn what YOU want the rules to be.
